What if I hurt myself ?

In the remote chance that you injure yourself during your stay our experienced staff will be on hand to assist you. In the first instance your surf guide or Dive Master are trained in first aid procedures. Aliota Resort is equipped with a detailed medical kit. At the town of Tua Pejat less than 10 minutes away is a doctor and pharmacy if need be. We also have the ability to consult direct with your doctor at home. Finally in the slim chance that you would need to be evacuated out, Tua Pejat has facilities to land both a small plane and a helicopter.

More than 70% of the waves in the Mentawais are accessible within an hour by Speedboat from Aliota Resort. Right in our back yard only 10 minutes away are five well known consistent spots including Télescopes the world class lefthander which offers longer and straighter barrels than Maccaronies when it is firing.

Mellower waves are also close by including a fun learner’s wave right at the end of Aliota Beach. There are still a few secret spots we keep to ourselves though you might just find yourself surfing them when conditions are right! Diving
MONDOBLU DIVE CENTRE, THE ONLY PROFESSIONAL DIVING OPERATION IN THE MENTAWAI ISLANDS

There are still many areas in Indonesia, including the Mentawai Islands

in which no one has ever dived before, opening up the possibilities of new discoveries of pristine diving conditions and the sighting of unique marine species. Over the past few years, the owners of Aliota Resort have been quietly exploring and charting the underwater environment of the island chain. In the resort area alone we have discovered and named 12 world class sites.

One of the highlights is The Cathedral, a site which is a prairie of Fan Corals. There is also Tongga Timur which is the spot with schools of fish in abundance including passing pelagic like Barracuda, Mackerel, etc.
Mondublu Dive Centre Manager and Chief Instructor, Sebastiano Gulinello has been exploring the potential of diving in and around West Sumatra and the Mentawais since 1997. No other person based in the area has acquired the same amount of dive knowledge. He is the representative for SSI in West Sumatra and is nearly always on the ground to guide and instruct you through your dive experiences at Aliota Resort.

Australian made Michelle, at up to 45 knots is one of the fastest speedboats in the Mentawais.
She can access 70% of the Mentawai's surfing spots in under an hour and half a dozen waves in our backyard in 15 minutes. Michelle is equipped with 2 x 200hp Yamaha outboards, VHF radio, GPS and flares.

Si Taksi, at 7.5 metres in length is the first fully equipped dive boat in the Mentawais. She can easily carry a group of 8 divers and is equipped with 2 x 70hp 4 stroke Suzuki outboards.

SEADOO 2000 700cc jetski. Tow in options at Iceland and Ombak Tidurs when the swell really hits. (We never tow or use the ski at spots where people are paddling in.)

The city of Padang in West Sumatra is the jump off point for the Mentawais. Padangs Minangkabau Airport is accessible from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Medan. Ask us about specific flight details

FERRIES FROM/TO PADANG:
MENTAWAI EXPRESS from Padang 10:00 am every Monday and Thursday. 4 hours.
MENTAWAI EXPRESS from Mentawais 10:00 am every Tuesday and 1:30pm on Fridays
AMBU AMBU - from Padang 9:00 pm every Saturday
AMBU AMBU - from Mentawais 9:00 pm every Sunday
AMBU AMBU- Second and third Tuesday of the month from Padang on TUESDAY 09:00 PM. Overnight crossing arrives at Tua Pejat harbour early morning where our speedboat will be standing by to pick you up.
